we just started using agridata surety maps. does anyone have any tips, hints, tricks, or other "best practices" to share for using this product?

One operator I flew for would load several 'jobs' from agridata on to our cards each night, say 1500 acres worth of spraying... Each 'Job' consisted of several 'polys' of like mixes. When we got our cards he would include a surety map for each field (poly) and then a master map which was zoomed out to include all the jobs. Loading your card in the morning you could pull up each job (or all of them for that matter) and plan out how you wanted to attack the days work. then from having that 'job' set on the screen you could 'set poly?' (whatever poly you wanted to start first) and you had guidance to the field. Once at the field a quick look at the map to verify no ones fingers got dyslexic, and you were in business.

Unfortunately since his job was plotting all the work out, and mine was flying, I never learned how that part worked, but if you're interested I could probably find out in short order..

Prior to that I used to just print the maps out on a section scale, and punch in the lat / longs... man talk about an eye opener doing it the way I described above...

Surety works well to create job files for Satloc, We've found though that if you have alot of job files on the card it will quit logging.

Yes, we had this experience as well, and so part of the deal flying for that operator was to show up with multiple (at least 3) cards. He would load the next days work on one, while you flew on another. The third would be back up, or a card that you may not have completed the day before. We also had the log rate adjusted to optimize the quality vs. the amount of space we were going to need on the card.

This was the guy I flew for in IA last year, and will fly for again in a few weeks. With this system he could give you jobs with 30 mile ferries in any direction and rest assured that weather you knew the country or not the right field was going to get sprayed. All you had to do was punch in the poly to get there, and then color in the lines. Out of the whole summer I only had one field that didn't match the map. It was a pivot that was only half in corn and someone forgot to note that, but by having this system I was able to punch up my next poly and take the load there, then verify what was going on for the following load...

Also using this system, he could down load your work, attach it to the surety map and have a very nice "as flown" package for his customers. All in all a great way to go!
