I am a Law Enforcement Pilot in Central CA and have always been interested in Ag flying. When I was out pushing a patrol car I used to sit on the side of the road and watch the crop dusters racing back and forth. When I was a kid, my dad and I used to get burgers and sit on the road and watch the ag planes fly. Who knows what bad nasties I consumed during those adventures 25 yrs ago! I fly a little on the side for some local outfits (non-ag related)
I have been reading on the forums and researching. Being here in Central CA, its definitely an interest.

Thanks,

HI Flying Pig,

Welcome to the forum, that's a great handle  When I first saw it come across I kept trying to figure if it was law enforcement related or 'when pigs fly' related...

To touch on your other post some, as was pointed out, rotor-wing ag is somewhat of a specialty within a specialty. In some ways it's going to make things easier on you (as in, less qualified competition), and in others it will make things tougher (as in less available seats). We have an OH-58 in our outfit.

As for the part time thing, I think you are going to have to spend a fair amount of time with an operator before he would be interested in putting on part time help. An operator usually has a lot invested in his pilots and is generally going to want to use them as much as he can.

On the other hand, aren't we all part timers?

Take care, Rob
